Meet and Greet on arrival at the Belize International Airport. Transfer to Belize City area hotel for overnight.
Day 2 – Peccary Hills National Park (Speedboat Tour and Rainforest ATV)
Hotel check-out and transfer to Belize City marina. You will board a customized speedboat and cruise via inland waterways to Northern Lagoon. En route you will spot crocodiles, observe nestling birds on “Bird Caye”, and then on to glimpse the gentle Manatee in their natural breeding grounds. The boat trips ends at Golden Sands Beach on Northern Lagoon where you will enjoy a picnic lunch and have leisure time on the beach. After lunch you will start your journey through Peccary Hills National Park which covers approximately 27,000 acres and represents a matrix of upland and lowland rainforests, pine savanna, fresh water creeks, riparian forests, mangrove forests, and coastal lagoons. You will first don kayaks for 20 minutes of paddling on Fresh Water Creek before boarding a safari outfitted vehicle to take an hour drive via pine savanna ecosystems en route to our adventure base in Gracie Rock Village. Upon arrival your experienced guides will brief you on safety procedures, outline the route to be taken and issue protective helmets. It is now time to explore jungle trails laid out over 100 years ago by loggers in search of precious Mahogany trees. Our trails are a good mix of various challenging terrains leading to the “Raiders of the Lost Arc” Cave. Caves were sacred portals to Xibalba where vital ceremonies were conducted to appease the gods of the underworld. Next, continue your journey to Western Belize where your next 2 nights will be spent at Pook’s Hill Lodge. This is a small family run lodge clustered around a restored Maya residential site in the heart of a 300 acre private rainforest reserve that serves as a buffer to the 7,000 acre Tapir Mountain Reserve.
